“Harlem Renaissance Reverie” is my tribute to one of the most influential periods in African American history—the Harlem Renaissance. This collection celebrates the era’s creativity and resilience by bridging past and present through fashion. Drawing inspiration from iconic visual artists like William H. Johnson, Jacob Lawrence, and Elizabeth Catlett, each piece reflects the vibrant colors, bold patterns, and innovative silhouettes that defined the early 20th century. Through this work, I invite a new generation to connect with the stories, struggles, and triumphs of their predecessors.
More than just fashion, “Harlem Renaissance Reverie” is about preserving and reinterpreting the legacies of these great artists. Each design tells a story, weaving together threads of history, identity, and culture. As both a designer and a storyteller, I aim to remind us of the power of art to shape narratives and foster community. This collection is an invitation to reflect on the past while embracing the boundless creativity and possibilities of the future.
